Our mission is to prevent addiction and drug-related deaths through education and awareness. We achieve this through outreach to all sectors, from school classrooms and college campuses to the community at large. We empower people with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed choices. Ultimately, we save lives. We are available to come to schools, parent, religious or professional groups, social clubs, fraternities and sororities to tell our story, and to talk about the dangers of fentanyl and how to prevent drug deaths using abstinence and harm reduction tools.
Fentanyl was originally designed to be a pain medicine for use in hospitals. What is circulating now is an illicit form. This form of fentanyl is not made in a lab by a professional, the chemicals come from China and then the fentanyl is made by the Mexican cartels. This fentanyl is mixed with other substances to form counterfeit pills. Fentanyl is commonly found in Xanax, OxyContin, Percocet, cocaine, heroin,
methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and even Adderall. These pills often contain none of the actual medicine that they are marketed as. Rather, these pills are made up of fentanyl and other random fillers, and then stamped to look like the marketed drug.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times stronger than morphine.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), 3 out of 5 counterfeit pills tested contained a lethal dose of fentanyl. Fentanyl poisoning is now the leading cause of death in the U.S. for 18-24 year olds. Do not think it can’t happen to you. Fentanyl doesn’t discriminate by the color of your skin, your religion, or how much money you have; it kills indiscriminately. If a drug isn’t prescribed for you and purchased at a pharmacy, you can’t be sure it doesn’t contain fentanyl.
